LAST 10 Aug, 11:40 p.m. A San Quentin State Prison resident, Pedro Arias, died Sunday from suspected COVID-19 complications, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).
Arias was 58 and has been on the death row since 1990. A road user will determine the exact deaths on the exact days, the CDCR reported.
According to a COVID-19 tracker by the CDCR, San Quentin currently has 134 active coronavirus cases, with 60 of those occurring in the last two weeks. To date, more than 2,000 cases have been solved in prison. However, San Quentin has also counted the most deaths as a result of the virus, accounting for about half of all deaths in the state of California.
