Coronavirus Updates: Nail Salons, Movie Theaters Reopening Today in Fresno County

FRESNO, California (KFSN) – A week after California allowed the reopening of nail salons, tattoo parlors, and hair removal stations, these companies in Fresno County are able to welcome customers on Friday.

Nail salons, tattoo parlors, and hair removal stations may reopen in Fresno County on Friday.

But if you’re heading to one of these businesses, you’ll want to call ahead, as most offer services by appointment only.

Stores will be practicing social distancing and must follow the safety guidelines established by the state.

Clients will be required to wear face covers and answer questions about their health before their appointment.

These rooms and services received the green light to open in California last week.

Customers were received again in Merced, Madera, Kings and Tulare counties, but Fresno County postponed its reopening as the county saw an increase in coronavirus cases.

Moth Art and Tattoo Collective manager Christian Villa said his business took advantage of the closure by renovating the interior of the store.

Villa said that even before COVID-19 concerns, stations and tools were frequently sterilized and staff wore face masks.

“When they kept saying two more weeks, three more weeks it hurt because this is our second home,” Villa said.

Family entertainment centers such as movie theaters and game rooms may also be open on Fridays in the county.

Fresno movie theaters have announced some of the security measures that will apply when customers return.

In northeast Fresno, Maya Cinemas said they won’t reopen until July 1, as they prepare to implement the guidelines set by the state.

When they reopen, the concession stands will have Plexiglas and there will be no self-service stations.

Auditoriums will only be filled to 25% full, and tickets must be purchased online or through an app.

Employees will also receive training and must wear gloves and face masks.
