2. Daily falls highest since mid-June

The UK’s daily number of coronavirus cases has risen to 1,522 in the past 24 hours – the highest number since June 12. This is still much lower than the 5,000 daily cases in April of people testing positive at the peak of the epidemic. However, cases have increased in Europe and began to recur in the United Kingdom in July. Experts suspect that a relatively small number of areas in the UK are responsible for the increase. Manchester United footballer Paul Pogba will have to isolate himself for 14 days after positive tests for Covid-19, according to French director Didier Deschamps. The 27-year-old will miss France’s Nations League match in Sweden on Saturday 5 September and the home match against Croatia three days later.
