Coronavirus outbreak: live updates and news for July 25, 2020

Vietnam confirmed its first local case since April, as some places in the Asia-Pacific that had been successful with Covid-19 are fighting a second wave. They include Hong Kong, whose leader, Carrie Lam, said there was still room for stricter antivirus measures, but rejected rumors of a total block.

Elsewhere in the region, the state Victoria of Australia saw five new coronavirus deaths.

In the USA, McDonald’s and Chipotle Mexican Grill joined the growing list of retailers that require customers to wear face covers at their points of sale. California reported a second consecutive day of record deaths, and the Vermont governor issued a it masks the mandate to protect the state from outbreaks elsewhere.
