Coronavirus Live News: U.S. Can start vaccinations before Christmas; Vietnam sees first case in three months World News

Samoa’s two positive Covid-19 cases are not contagious but have been declared historic cases.

The cases involved a 70-year-old man who had traveled from Melbourne, Australia, and a sailor returning from Italy. Both Samoan nationals arrived in Apia on a flight home on November 13 and then tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

But further investigation of their cases revealed that they were both historical figures: the sailor had the virus in May and the Australian Australian-based man in August.

Blood samples from both cases were sent to New Zealand: the results showed low viral counts for both, and the case was not considered contagious.

Two positive cases, and the remaining 274 passengers who arrived in Samoa on the same flight, will have to remain in contact for an additional seven days as a precaution, said Samoa’s director general of health, Liusa de Techk Naseri.

Liusa said all front-line workers at the airport, including health workers, police and airport crew, were tested for the tested ronavirus.

No other cases of coronavirus have been reported in Samoa.

Elsewhere in the Pacific, 106 cases have been reported in the Mariana Islands, 80 of which are mainly from the U.S. mainland and Guam. Imported from the region to these islands.

Four more cases have been reported in Fiji, all across the border.

But French Polynesia, one of the most affected regions in the Pacific, has surpassed 14,000 cases and 73 deaths. 82 people remain in the hospital, including 21 in intensive care. France has expelled additional medical personnel to increase the number of cases.

Of the 14,096 confirmed cases in French Polynesia, 62 all other issues have surfaced since the Archipelago reopened its borders in July and abolished compulsory quarantine.
