Coronavirus Cases Increase in Jefferson County

This week there has been a significant increase in coronavirus cases in Jefferson County, and health officials reported 26 new cases since Monday. New cases this week bring the total Jefferson County COVID-19 case count to 137 since the start of the pandemic.

According to Jefferson County daily press releases, health officials reported four new cases on Monday, eight on Tuesday, six on Wednesday, and eight more cases on Thursday.

“Today he has been shown to be busy for the Department of Public Health in terms of identifying positive cases and corresponding follow-up contacts,” the county health department said in a statement Thursday.

“While some of those cases can be traced back to the river area, it is important to note that several of the new cases are unrelated to this small community expanse that appears to be occurring along a portion of the St. River. Lawrence, “the statement said.

More than 300 people are in preventive or mandatory quarantine in Jefferson County. The county has evaluated 9,519 people since the start of the pandemic.
