For his part, General Pablo Ruiz, commander of the Aburrá Valley Police, said that this operation was carried out in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office, and that it allowed to affect ‘La Terraza’, a criminal network that “intimidated merchants and the residents near the market place. Similarly, the Police Gaula dismantled the criminal group ‘Los Pitufos’, after the capture of 15 people for the crimes of aggravated extortion, conspiracy to commit a crime, drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons.

‘Los Pitufos’ committed crimes in Santa Rosa de Osos and Entrerríos and in some neighborhoods of Medellín, and provided their services to the ‘Los Triana’ network.

In Bolívar, the criminal group ‘Los Causas II’ was disbanded, after the capture of 14 alleged members and the indictment of two more.

“Its main victims were merchants, ranchers, teachers and housewives in Magangué, Carmen de Bolívar, San Jacinto, Achí, Mompox, Pinillos, Margarita, Talaigua, Cicuco and San Martín de Loba,” read a statement issued by the Gaula of the Police.

In the framework of what the Gaula described as the “Cyclone macrooperation”, 14 firearms, 11 suppliers, 299 cartridges, 3 fragmentation grenades, and 85 communication equipment were seized.

The Police Gaula points out that kidnapping this year has fallen by 47 percent compared to 2020.
