In five days Barranquilla has witnessed three homicides amid robberies in different parts of the city. The most recent occurred on Monday morning on 72nd Street with 24B Carrera, San Felipe neighborhood, southwest of the Atlantic capital.
This is Julio Alberto Márquez Palma, who was hit by a bullet in his back when, apparently, he objected to the theft of his cell phone while working as a route supervisor for a public transport company named Cootransnorte.
Márquez collapsed after receiving the firearm projectile, while he was helped by several residents of the sector and a woman who sells fried foods in the place and they took him to the La Manga Road, where the doctors could do nothing to keep him alive. .
A witness who did not want to reveal his identity maintained that “it was about 7 in the morning and a scandal was heard and then the gunshot. The lady who sells fried foods witnessed the whole event because they both stood on that corner from early 6:00 in the morning ”.
Octavio Marín, Julio’s friend, came to the place where his “friend” was murdered.
“I was at my house, when some of his colleagues (Julio Alberto) called me to tell me that they had killed him for robbing him. I got here because I couldn’t believe it, it’s not fair that innocent people continue to be killed in Barranquilla. He was a good father, a good friend, a good worker, they took a great human being, “he added.
Márquez worked in that company for approximately 20 years, had two children and lived in Villas de San Pablo with his family.
