Gustavo Petro attacks Luis Carlos Sarmiento and the “establishment economists”

After Senator Gustavo Petro’s interview with SEMANA, the controversy broke out. Petro proposed that the Banco de la República issue money to distribute it among those most in need due to the pandemic, instead of handing it over to the banks. Several economists and political leaders have criticized it and have said that the proposal is inconvenient because it would generate inflationary pressures that would end up hitting the pockets of the poor.

The senator of Human Colombia defended himself by attacking Luis Carlos Sarmiento, the country’s largest banker, and against his critics, whom he branded as establishment economists. In a trill he said: “Our economists of the establishment love that it is broadcast for Luis Carlos Sarmiento, but not for Colombian families. That is not economic thinking, that is only licking the pocket of the powerful ”.

The campaign strategy for 2022 is beginning to be seen.
