“Carnival lives in you”, that is the motto under which the official programming of the carnival 2021 was launched this Wednesday. The local and national authorities extended the invitation to lovers of these festivals to live them from home through the virtual networks and platforms of Carnaval SAS, the website of THE HERALD and the regional channel Telecaribe, allied media that will bring the details of each event to the carnival homes.
The presentation was different from every year, it took the sound of the millo flute, the rumbling of drums and the triumphal entry of the monarchy. Instead, the makers of the party appeared on screen remembering those who have lost their lives during this pandemic.
As spokesmen for the event were the mayor of Barranquilla, Jaime Pumarejo Heins; the district secretary for Culture, María Teresa Fernández Iglesias; the director of Carnaval SAS, Carla Celia; and the Vice Minister of Regional Development and Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, José Ignacio Argote.
The district secretary of Culture, María Teresa Fernández Iglesias, told this media that the makers of the party have had a very sensible attitude and understood that there is no place for festivities and parades, because they can endanger the life of anyone. “What we want to demonstrate through this virtual agenda is that Carnival is much more than a partyIt is an oral and intangible heritage of humanity, so we will take care of showing the behind-the-scenes of the events and their protagonists ”.
As well highlighted the support they have given to the makers of the party. “From the Mayor’s Office we project a Stimulus Bag and the content of those projects that they have presented will be the ones that will feed this agenda that we are revealing so that people from their homes can enjoy and know our party from the patrimonial point of view. It is important to note that the programming is not focused only on the second week of February, but starts from this Saturday at 8:30 pm with a special on the Reading of the Bando by Telecaribe ”.
