Nashville: Police investigate an explosion in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, United States – US and Canada – International

The local police of Nashville (Tennessee, USA) are investigating an explosion that shook the center of the city early in the morning of this Friday, Christmas Day, and pointed out that it may be an “intentional act” .

“This appears to be an intentional act. Security forces are closing the streets while the investigation continues,” the Nashville Police Department said on its Twitter account.

The explosion occurred around 06:30 local time (12:30 GMT) and the Police believe that a vehicle is involved in what happened.

Three people were injured and transported to nearby hospitals, but none are in critical condition. Police spokesman Don Aaron said at a press conference.

Multiple security forces are investigating what happened, including the local police, the fire department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI, in English).

The FBI and the federal weapons and explosives agency launched an investigation. President Donald Trump “was briefed” on the situation, the White House said.

According to local televisions, when the explosion occurred, flames and black smoke could be seen in downtown Nashville, the tourist heart of the city that is full of bars, restaurants and establishments where you can listen to live music.

Near downtown Nashville, there is also a museum dedicated to Johnny Cash, considered the “king of country music.”

Nashville, capital of the southern state of Tennessee, is known as “Music City, USA” (City of Music) due to its important record industry.

Police were looking for witnesses and several people were taken to the police station for questioning, the police spokesman said.
