Around one in the afternoon, the securities helicopter landed on the soccer field of the municipality of Bolivar

Cauca
, and, immediately, men with rifles and civilian clothes came to the aircraft and began to remove all the money it was carrying
.
A group of children playing on the court had to quickly retreat, while the assailants stole 1,500 million pesos that were destined for the Agrarian Bank.
“We do verifications with the securities transport company to establish why the pilot landed the aircraft at a site where a National Police device was already established to guarantee activity,” said Rosemberg Novoa, Commander of the Cauca Police.
For his part, the Secretary of the Government of Cauca, Luis Angulo, noted that the incident occurred when “the security device was moving to make the usual accompaniment to the helicopter.”
“The pilot, we are told, landed before the device arrived and that is where the situation arises,” he said.
According to the first investigations, when the police officers reacted, they were harassed with rifle bursts by other armed men who apparently were in the area.
“Thank God there were no injuries, nor do we have any affected or injured police units, and neither did the crew that came in the helicopter,” said Jorge Macías, mayor of Bolívar, Cauca.
The authorities attributed this fact to members of the National Liberation Army. The helicopter, which remains in Bolívar, was hit with a firearm.
A special commission of the Criminal Investigation Section (Sijín) of the National Police and the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Public Prosecutor’s Office remain in the area carrying out the respective investigations of the case.
