The highest-ranking officials, such as Senate and House Clerks, will earn, effective January 1, 2021, more than $ 17 million.

Christmas came to the administrative officials of Congress with decree 1780 signed by President Iván Duque, the Minister of Finance, Alberto Carrasquilla, and the director of the Administrative Department, Fernando Grillo. With this, the salary was adjusted to the entire plant that works in the Capitol in functions that do not comply with the legislative.

This would be the second salary adjustment in 2020 -the first was in February-, after a request from the union, especially from those who are in a lower degree of the salary scale, as reported by RCN Radio.

For these, the salary was $ 2,529,464, while for those who are in the highest grade, such as the secretaries and administrative directors of the Senate and Chamber, they will have a salary of $ 17,989,089 and a monthly management premium of $ 2′107.862 and $ 1′725.445, respectively.

This decree does not touch the salary of the congressmen, which is above $ 34 million per month and which also rose this year, amid the controversies for continuing to receive the money regarding representation expenses, which are contemplated, in normal times , for travel expenses, stay in Bogotá, tickets, among others.

By meeting virtually, several congressmen requested that representation expenses, which amount to $ 14 million, be frozen, because the majority of Congress was operating from their regions and at home. However, this proposal, which was tried to be introduced in the virtual sessions project, was unsuccessful.
