Curfew and peak and ID in Antioquia: measures for Christmas and New Year

As of December 22 and until January 4, 2021, Antioquia will be on a hospital red alert. In addition, the Government announced that there will be a continuous curfew on Christmas and New Year’s celebrations: from 8:00 p.m. on December 24 to 6:00 a.m. on December 26 and from 8:00 a.m. 00 at night of December 31 until 6:00 in the morning of January 2. Peak and cedula will also be implemented and the Christmas lights will be turned off preventively.

Aníbal Gaviria, governor of Antioquia, announced this Monday, December 21, that the department will adopt new measures for the management of COVID-19. “After meeting with all the mayors of the department, we ratified our decision to declare a hospital red alert,” he said. This declaration runs from 00:00 hours on December 22, 2020 until 00:00 hours on January 4, 2021.

Likewise, Antioquia will implement a night curfew, which will be in force between 00:00 and 6:00 in the morning, from this Wednesday, December 23 to January 3.

For the celebration of Christmas and New Year the measure is extended. “The Curfew will rule continuously in the Aburrá Valley, the East, the Southwest and the West from 8:00 p.m. on December 24 to 6:00 a.m. on December 26, and from 8:00 at night on December 31 until 6:00 in the morning on January 2, “the governor reported.

Faced with the increase in COVID-19 cases in Antioquia, where there are more than 7,000 active cases, the Government decided to preventively turn off the Christmas lights; the mayors of each municipality will define the days and hours. Pico and cédula will also be implemented in all commercial establishments, on some days the cédulas finished in even numbers will be able to circulate and other days the cédulas finished in odd numbers. “In the next few hours we will publish the Departmental Decree that unifies the measure,” said Gaviria.

The Mayor’s Office of Medellín had already announced measures to prevent the spread of the virus in the capital of Antioquia.
