Reactivation of tourism in San Andrés

The President called on Colombians to visit San Andrés and Providencia and collaborate in the reconstruction of the archipelago after the passage of Hurricane Iota.

“The best way to help the archipelago this December, and I am going to say it is that we visit the archipelago,” he said.

“Let’s tell the Colombian families, those who have the way to go to Miami, come to San Andrés, don’t go to Miami; to those who have the way, suddenly, to enjoy in some spaces of their property, man, spend a talk and come to San Andrés ”, he stressed.

The National Tourism Fund (Fontur), works on three strategies for the reactivation of tourism on the island of San Andrés and Providencia.

In this sense, the President of Fontur, Raquel Garavito, affirmed that the first initiative is the realization of a new day of the ‘Great Weekend’ where one of the first destinations to promote will be the archipelago.

“We are doing an application campaign for the entrepreneurs of tourism companies. Only in San Andrés we are talking about 300 companies with a current National Tourism Registry (RNT) that could be enabled with the protocols”, He explained.

Likewise, a campaign promotion campaign is being carried out, which will be replicated on radio, television and digitally.

“We hope to have this campaign on the air next Wednesday and we are going to have an emphasis, from that campaign, on the destinations that have direct flights to San Andrés to increase the visit from those destinations,” he said.

Likewise, there are approaches with entrepreneurs from the country’s private sector so that the end-of-the-year gifts are trips to the archipelago.

“We are working with the entrepreneurs of the country’s large companies so that, instead of giving their employees refrigerators or televisions, what they give them are prizes in trips to the island ”, he explained.
