The launch of Modern Warfare and its free battle royale mode, Warzone, has been quite successful in recent months, drawing tens of millions of players to the franchise.
Unfortunately, however, some PS4 owners have noticed a major issue with the FPS title, after reports that their consoles overheated when left on certain screens in the game.
The problem recently arose after Call of Duty, the professional Dillon ‘Attach’ Price, shared a clip of the noise his PS4 was making, even comparing it to the sound of a “jet engine” as he played the game on the 25th. of June.
The NY Subliners star asked for some advice on how to fix it and fellow CoD pro Jordan ‘Jkap’ Kaplan responded to the post, claiming that he had also experienced the same issue, noting that it was most noticeable on the Modern Warfare lobby screen, before queuing for a game.
“Mine has been the same way lately, it sounds like an airplane about to take off every time I’m sitting in a lobby,” explained the two-time world champion.

Their discussion resulted in a lot of comments from other Modern Warfare and Warzone players who had taken care of the problem, and one fan even showed that his Ps4 was shutting down after overheating in the lobby.
After Jkap contacted Infinity Ward to address the issue, YouTuber XclusiveAce from Call of Duty also stepped in, apparently confirming that the issue was coming from the lobby screen.
“I always go back to the title screen when I want to keep the game on hold without the PS4 preparing to take off while I’m working,” he revealed.

Many have speculated that the problem could be caused by the roaming character models in the background, following claims that the lobby screen apparently has unlimited frame rate.
As of now, Infinity Ward has not responded to the issue and it is unclear if there is any way to fix it, furthermore, as some have mentioned above, switch to different screens such as load customization to lessen the issue.
