Clemson v. The Florida State game was postponed hours before the kickoff because teams disagreed on whether to play.

No. 4 Clemson and Florida State Tallahassee will begin at noon ET in Florida, featuring a positive COVID-19 test and a return to action for the Tigers quarterback Trevor Larens following a multiple-week layoff. Will have to wait for her to return.

The schools and council announced Saturday morning that “medical personnel from both teams were unable to agree on how to proceed with the game,” the ACC said in a statement issued less than four hours before the kickoff.

“We are disappointed that we will not be able to play today’s game against Florida State,” said Clemson Athletic Director Dan Radakovich. “Clemson follows all ACC protocols in preparation for this game. We look forward to returning to action against Pitt next week for Senior Day and Military Appreciation Day.”

“Our first priority is the health of our student-athletes, and I appreciate the protocols laid down by the FSU and ACC to ensure everyone’s health when they allow us to play this season,” said Florida State coach Mike Norwell. “It’s unfortunate that we don’t get a chance to compete today, but we hope to be able to play Clemson in December. I’m grateful for the support and coordination between our administration, Clemson and the ACC office. Our team will now turn our corner next week Focus on hosting. “

Although the opposing statements were arranged, the parties disagreed on whether the game should be postponed.

CBS Sports ‘Dennis Dodd reports that the issue for the postponement was that of a therapeutic Clemson player, whose Friday COVID-19 test returned positive on Saturday morning, CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd reports. That information was shared with the state of Florida during a meeting between the medical staff of the schools ahead of the game.

That revelation prevented Florida State from playing the game, whether it was scheduled for Sunday or Monday, when Clemson believes the game should have been played sometime in the next few days and is not to blame for the postponement, sources told Dodd.

Sources also told CBS Sports that the player in question has tested negative twice during the week. No contact tracing was required as he was not on the player’s roommate trip. The player was left alone when his positive test came out.

Before the ACC game, teams share certification forms that show the course of testing during the game week. On Friday, or the second day of the game, the teams are examined by a third party selected by the ACC office fee. ACC schools are required to test football three times per week. A PCR test must be done three days before the game.

The Tigers and Seminoles both have December 12th as an open date, but the game has not been rearranged yet. No player names have been released.

Players from both sides, including Lawrence and Florida State defensive end Genius Robinson, appeared ready to play Saturday.

The ACC also announced several other schedule adjustments on Saturday. The Boston College Louisville game that was recently moved to Dec. 12 will now be played on Nov. 28. Wake Forest Original Nov at Louisville Game. Was to play on 28 November. Moved to 19 December. The ACC also announced. The Duke game at Wake Forest was originally set for Nov.21 but was postponed it has been canceled.
