Public Enemy still wants people to “Fight the Power” … but now Chuck D He says it’s time to let the younger people deal with that fight, because time is literally running out for most political leaders.
We spoke to the legendary MC on ‘TMZ Live’ to hear his views on the upcoming elections and current social unrest … which he points out has millions of frontline youth voicing their anger. Chuck says that if it’s PE heyday of the 90s, or now, that has never changed.
In light of that, he says our policy should reflect that from the top down … especially at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Now, he is not suggesting that we elect a 25-year-old president, not that the Constitution allows it, but he is making a comment about much older men who are making decisions about our future.
He mocks this year’s candidates … saying that when they talk about “future,” he wonders how much more time they have left.
That brings us to the new PE track, “State of the Union (STFU)”. It’s a not-so-subtle shot in President Trump … with a classic Public Enemy hit.
Chuck told us that his opposition to Trump is based in part on what he saw and heard during his international tours. As he sees it … the world is laughing at America.
