Two women “in their 20s dressed as old women” tried to get vaccinated with the second dose against Covid-19, but the age was detected after the review of their identity cards at a vaccination post in Florida, United States.
Both arrived with hats, gloves and glasses to the vaccination post at the Orange County Convention Center, in central Florida, where the priority is those over 65 years of age.
The case was reported to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in central Florida, which noted that the women were under 65.
The women, however, wore a valid card of the first dose of the vaccineRaúl Pino, Orange County health official, said at a press conference.
“I don’t know how they first got it, but they came with gloves, glasses, everything, and they’re probably 20 years old,” Pino said.
The official stressed that the number of people trying to spoof their identities is probably higher than it is believed.
LITTLE MORE THAN 2.4 MILLION VACCINES IN THE STATE
The number of vaccinated people in Florida, with a population of more than 21 million, is 2.43 million. Of these, 1.13 million have received the two doses required by the vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna laboratories.
In addition to those over 65 years of age, for now, only people who reside in geriatric centers and those who care for them and health personnel on the front line of the fight against covid-19 can be vaccinated.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said Thursday that a 42% of those over 65 years living in the state have already received the vaccine against Covid-19 and announced an increase in the number of doses that arrive weekly.
Since March 1, 2020, more than 1.8 million people have been infected in Florida and 29,990 have died from the new coronavirus, which places the state in third place for number of cases, and fourth for deaths, in the Johns Hopkins University tables, led in both cases by California.
