Luis González, a young man who was arrested on May 31, 2019, along with three other people, accused of participating in the burning of a Transantiago bus in Providencia, in the Metropolitan region, sued the State for $ 250 million for moral damages and damages due to lack of services from the Carabineros and the Public Ministry, through the Eastern Prosecutor’s Office.
This, because during the process he lost his job and experienced traumatic episodes inside the Santiago 1 prison, where he was sent after being formalized for the crime of fire and public disorder, remaining with the precautionary measure of preventive detention. After 18 days, his sentence was replaced by the monthly signature.
His family fought for his innocence, which he achieved several months later when the Eighth Guarantee Court of Santiago decided to dismiss him permanently.
Due to this, as reported by radio Bío Bío, on September 8, González, through his lawyer Yasna Celis, filed a claim for compensation. The foregoing, due to the accusations, formalization and submission to restrictive measures of freedom, transgressing the principle of innocence, by forcing the affected person to serve a sentence of a crime that he did not commit
