“You cannot fail the faith”: Pilgrims arrived at the Lo Vásquez Sanctuary despite a ban | National

Despite the authorities’ call to not attending the Lo Vásquez Sanctuary, several people have arrived at the religious center located in the commune of Casablanca.

It was several weeks ago that the suspension of the activity was announced due to the health context facing the country and to avoid crowds of people, those that can be a vector of contagion.

On the occasion it was also indicated that pedestrian and bicycle traffic on Route 68 is prohibited, road that passes to one side of the sanctuary.

During this Monday, people began to arrive very early and the flow was increasing as the hours passed.

Mainly there have been three ways to get to this point: walking, cycling or in cars. The people who have arrived in Lo Vásquez, have done so through Route 68.

Thus they were part of the testimonies of those who come to pay their mandate, despite the prohibitions and to the covid-19 pandemic. They assure that “We come every year, We cannot fail faith, since faith moves mountains ”.


The authorities themselves had anticipated the arrival of different pilgrims to the Sanctuary.

The governor of the province of Valparaíso, Gonzalo Le Dantec, who positively assessed the plan that was devised to avoid crowds.

In that place there are also personnel from the regional health seremi, who are supervising so that all sanitary measures are followed.

The correct use of the mask, the physical distance and carrying the health passport if they come from outside the regional territory.

After the roadblock, a blockade will be made to the street that surrounds the Sanctuary in order to prevent people from accessing the site.
