Senator DC Ximena Rincón referred this Monday to her presidential candidacy, seeking to be her party’s card for the elections.

In an interview with La Tercera, the parliamentarian revealed her strengths before a possible primary in her political tent with former minister Alberto Undurraga.

“My main strength has to do with the fact that in my senatorial elections I have won well. That I am a woman and a region, and those things count today. Feeling the territory, knowing what it is to be born, grow up and live in a region in a country that it has a brutal territorial inequity, it is part of the anger of the citizens, “he said.

Asked why she could prevail now, considering that she already faced a primary in DC and lost to Claudio Orrego, she said that “the Ximena Rincón from eight years ago is not the same as today.”

“I have worked in the government, with the territories and at that time I did not have the network of mayors that Orrego had. Today I have, not only a curriculum, but a connection with the country, with different sectors that give an account of who I am and of the fights that I am willing to give, “he said.

Regarding what will be the highlights in his government program, he indicated that “what we have done is to set up platforms that allow us to gather the emphasis, the hopes, the demands of the citizens throughout the country. We have already assembled teams in all the regions and the idea is to do work with citizens. I am going to put as a priority the issue of childhood and childhood development. Much has also come out in the conversations we have had on the issue of real and effective parity and presence of women in the Judiciary, in Parliament, in the private world “.

Finally, the former minister remarked that she believes “absolutely” that she can beat Joaquín Lavín in the elections.

“Lavín has competed three times and has not managed to reach the government house. If we work on a proposal that captures the feelings of the citizens, we can reach La Moneda without any doubt,” concluded Ximena Rincón.
