In Villa Los Acacios in the Los Andes commune, a woman violently attacked with a knife and took the life of a neighbor’s dog.
The incident occurred on Thursday, when a five-year-old dog named Mara, a pit bull, ran away from her backyard and began attacking another resident’s dog.
In a matter of moments, the woman left the house with a knife and stabbed the animal five times, killing it on the spot.
From the event, animal rights organizations approached the owner of the dead pet to advise her and help her in a process that could continue in court.
Gloria, Mara’s owner, said that she was rescued when she was three months old and even pointed out that the woman threatened to kill one of her children. At the same time it was declared “in shock” and confirmed that together with part of his family they witnessed the attack.
The person who made the case known was the animal councilor Nury Tapia, who regretted what happened and pointed out that at the municipal level, dialogues have already been held with Mayor Manuel Rivera to provide psychological support and the possible actions that Gloria takes.
Tapia pointed out that in addition to the ordinance of responsible possession that the commune has, the general law on this issue is also in force, deeming it necessary for people to be punished.
Despite the above, Gloria indicated that she has not yet decided if she is going to file legal actions, stating that her family is shocked by the brutal loss of their pet.
