According to the local chief, the second lieutenant of the Chilean Navy, Ignacio Hernández, the woman was caught taking pictures inside the secret chamber. However, those present did not manage to realize if it was a photograph of the vote.
For her part, the woman assures that “He was taking a selfie” at the time of voting. It was at that moment, according to the lieutenant, that the phone rang “and one of the people at the table proceeded to inform us.”
The local delegate reported that the woman would be detained and who handed her over to the police. The prosecutor on duty was already informed of the arrest by violation of Law 18,700.
The second lieutenant recalled that according to the same law, the Chilean Navy is in charge of the security inside of the corresponding premises, while Carabineros de Chile is in control of the outside security.
