On this April Fools’ Day, not even the politicians were absent. Providencia Mayor Evelyn Matthei decided to make a joke to her followers on Twitter, implying that she had dyed her blonde hair green. “They say the changes are good,” he wrote in his account.
With 67 years, the militant of the Independent Democratic Union (UDI), reported on Monday morning that her nephews had helped her choose the color and, incidentally, asked her followers if they had liked the “new look ”.

The publication, which accumulates more than 500 shares and another thousand ‘likes’, generated a stir among its followers. Some disagreed and others only sent compliments.
However, an hour later came what many already suspected. “Happy #DiaDeLosInocentes to all those who wrote to me and worried about my look,” he clarified.
Then, through a video, he joked that “you have to laugh a little bit (…) it’s the end of the year, we’re all tired, it’s been a hard year, it’s good to laugh a little. That was the context. Forgive me those who believed it ”. “Here I am, as always,” she closed, showing her characteristic blonde hair.
The other joke
In her role as mayor, Matthei has also been the victim of television face pranks. This was the case last August, when Francisco Saavedra and Pedro Ruminot decided to give him a phone call during the night, on their Socios program.
It all started because, in the context of the vote to withdraw 10% of the AFPs, the communal chief indicated that “if this is approved, Chile will catch fire,” generating controversy.
Based on that, Saavedra and Ruminot posed as firefighters from the San Miguel commune and wanted to remind him of his words.
“Chile didn’t burn and we don’t have to work, so we’re going to thank you because there was no fire,” Ruminot jokingly said.
But the mayor reacted annoyed: “So firefighters ah? Acting funny at 11 at night, looking for fires the imbecile, pathetic,” he said.
