The Family Emergency Income (IFE) It was the instrument created by the Government to help the poorest sectors that lost their income as a result of the economic crisis unleashed by the coronavirus.
The benefit that officially considered four payments, was extended for two months and after the sixth delivery of the benefit, the doubt has arisen if there will be new contributions from the IFE.
New IFE payments?
It was the Minister of Finance himself, Ignacio Briones, who confirmed that IFE payments will not be extended again, arguing that we are currently in a new phase of the pandemic.
For the Secretary of State, in the country “we are in an opening phase, where the communes have been emerging, economic and daily activity has been resuming and we have seen it in the employment figures ”.
“Our priority is the permanent income of Chilean families, not the emergency income that is for the most critical part of the pandemic. Now there is the employment subsidy program, it is US $ 2 billion, and of course there will be much more targeted social assistance, but I insist: the IFE is strictly associated with the pandemic, to the health emergency at its worst minute ”, he commented.
Despite this, the head of the fiscal wallet left the door open so that if a strong outbreak of the virus occurs, the IFE mechanism will operate again.
“If next year, and I wish this did not happen, we had to lock ourselves up again, to quarantine ourselves, obviously we have an instrument -the IFE- that has been created and we are going to press the buttonBut today we are in a different phase and we need people to leave with the reservations and the Government is going to help them find jobs, ”said Briones.
Sixth payment of the IFE
As of last Thursday, October 29, the sixth payment of the IFE began, a process that will last during November. This last payment amounts to $ 55,000, so a family group of four will receive a total of $ 220,000.
Through social networks ChileAtiende announced that “today, Thursday, October 29, the pending payments of the IFE“. To which is added this sixth and last payment.
The schedule is as follows:
- Transfer to RUT account: From October 29 to November 4
- In-person payment: From November 2 to 23
- Deposits in accounts of other banks: November 4th
- Pending payments of previous contributions: from October 29 to November 3
