Controversy has caused the recent visit of the president Sebastian Piñera to Cachagua, where He was caught walking on the beach and taking photos with passersby without wearing a mask nor respecting the recommended physical distance.
Through a message on his Instagram stories, the president said that “yesterday I went for a walk on the beach, which I had not done since last year. The walk was quite lonely until some people recognized me and asked me to take a picture ”.
“Surely I should have put on the mask, but because of the speed with which the events occurred I did not do it and it was a mistake that I regret and I apologize ”, he said, and then emphasized that “Personal are very important to avoid new infections and we must all respect them.”
Despite the apologies, the lawyer Luis Mariano Rendón announced that he filed a criminal complaint against the head of state.

In conversation with CNN Chile, Rendón maintained that “When any citizen commits an offense and is detained by the police or public force, it is not enough for him to apologize, the corresponding infraction is carried out and must receive the sanction established by law ”.
“As we live in a democratic Republic and one of its principles is equality before the law, It corresponds that the treatment that any citizen receives, be the same for the President of the Republic“, argument.
The jurist presented the judicial action under article 318 of the Penal Code, that sanctions those who violate sanitary rules. “What I have done is set up the judicial mechanism. What the president did is a crime“, he claimed.
Also, he criticized the way he made the apology. “I think those excuses should be through a statement from the Presidency of the Republic. I am also a regular on social networks, but I think that a message on Instagram is not enough when we are talking about the president“He added.
