It’s official now. The Chilean soccer team added a new and important loss for the start of the Qualifiers.

The captain in the Reinaldo Rueda era, Gary Medel, was called off after his injury this Sunday defending Bologna in Serie A.

The ‘Pitbull’ something was already throbbing after his physical problem. “Sadder than the chucha”, had expressed in Social Networks.

As the hours passed, La Roja published a brief statement on its official website where it is detailed that the ‘Pitbull’ was released from the first commitments heading to Qatar 2022.

“The Communications Management of the Chilean Soccer Federation informs that the Chilean National Team Medical Corps released the player Gary Medel from the call for qualifying matches against Uruguay and Colombia,” the letter says.

Along the same lines, it is specified that “the decision was adopted because the player had a tear in the left calf, whose recovery period exceeds the cycle of qualifying matches ”.

Let’s remember that Chile had already lost Claudio Bravo, Guillermo Maripán, Erick Pulgar and Fabián Orellana, among others, through injury.

La Roja must debut on October 8 against Uruguay in Montevideo and then, on October 13, they will host Colombia in Santiago.
