In an electronic voting process, the communists yesterday determined who will be the 96 militants that will make up the central committee.

With 5923 votes, Deputy Camila Vallejo became the most voted figure in the elections, thus surpassing party president Daniel Jadue, who obtained 5,822 preferences, and even further from the president of the community Guilliermo Teillier who was elected with 4,893 votes.

Does the PC force configuration change anything after yesterday’s vote? Within the community there are not two opinions, in the sense that yesterday’s vote will not alter the fact that in the next election of the board of directors of PC Teillier and Lautaro Carmona will be nominated for a new term. A close to the communist helmsman emphasizes “Gladys Marín, being a communist leader, was never among the most voted, therefore, it is not strange that the largest votes are not with the board ”.

The deputy Karol cariola, who was also elected with 5,596 votes, confirms the point stating that “as a party we use other criteria to define our authorities. In other words, it is very important that the central committee meets and evaluates what is most convenient for the group in this period. AND this is crossed by several elements, not only the electoral results of a universal vote ”.

“In other words, I think (the vote) is one more element, which should be considered on its merit. That is why we act as a collective, beyond individual results. There are many colleagues who perhaps obtained less vote because they are less known in public terms, but who, nevertheless, are of great value for internal work of the party ”, insists Cariola.

In the Vallejo environment, they are quick to state that yesterday’s vote does bring greater responsibility for the upcoming election process and in which the deputy for Florida will have to deploy to strengthen the PC staff.

That process is already underway. In fact, on Monday he was in a program with the PC candidates for councilors, mayors and constituents. And last week he participated in a breakfast with Irací Hassler, candidate for Santiago, in which the deputies Karol Cariola and Marisela Santibañez were also present.

Although those who know Vallejo inside the PC, point out that he has never been interested in occupying high positions within the party. And that she has even said that two terms as a member of parliament should be enough.

However, it is not ruled out that after yesterday’s vote, the parliamentarian will join the political commission.

This morning, in fact, the deputy highlighted the importance of adding women to party decision-making bodies.

“(The central committee) is a group that will soon have to be constituted in the central committee and we will see how to define the political commission, the general secretary and the party presidency. But with a substantive incorporation of women and that has to be reflected not only in the central committee, but also in the direction that is the political commission ”, said.

Vallejo and Cariola this morning highlighted the high vote of women in yesterday’s elections.

“We prepared ourselves in all our instances of discussion -from the cell to the national level- to be a party that not only fights against the inequality that capitalism produces, but also against the injustice that patriarchy produces. There was talk of being an anti-patriarchal party, working decisively for that and aspiring to be a feminist party. And, obviously, when voting, the militancy wanted to be consistent. And that’s why the high vote of women candidates. He speaks highly of the game, ”Vallejo said this morning.

Faced with the point, Cariola added: “I believe that the party acts in coherence with the need to open greater political spaces for women in the country and also in the party. The formation of a joint national leadership (central committee), and the declaration of being a Feminist and Antipatriarchal party are very relevant for the construction of the party ”.
