[ad_1]

Is Monday, December 14, at about 1:00 p.m., you will be able to see in our country a new total solar eclipse, an astronomical phenomenon that generates great expectation, both in the public and in the scientific world, and that this time will be marked by restrictions due to the pandemic.

In July 2019, hundreds of compatriots witnessed the eclipse that was observed in the small north of our country, while this year the shadow of the moon will be seen, to a greater extent, in the regions of La Araucanía and Los Ríos.

However, the weather report for next Monday is not very encouraging in that area of the country, according to what the Chilean Meteorological Directorate in his web page.

On that day, “the southern and southern areas of the country will be affected by an area of post-frontal instability, which will weaken from the Araucanía region to the south,” indicates the official body.

Villarrica and Pucón

Overcast skies and light rain are forecast in the lake area for the early hours of Monday, a condition that -according to Meteorology- will continue throughout the morning, varying to cloudy and light showers during the afternoon.

Temuco

A cloudy early morning is forecast for the regional capital, which will lead to a morning with overcast skies and light rain, turning to cloudy and occasional showers during the afternoon.

Arica and Parinacota Region

In the Arica region the eclipse can only be seen by 26%, while the forecast announces a cloudy morning varying to partial after noon.

Tarapacá region

In the Tarapacá region you can see 31% of the eclipse and according to Meteorology anticipates, the morning will be cloudy and it will vary to clear during the afternoon.

Antofagasta region

In the Antofagasta region, the phenomenon can be appreciated by 42%, while the skies are expected to vary from cloudy in the morning to clear in the afternoon.

Atacama region

In the Atacama region, the eclipse will reach 55% and the skies will be partially cloudy in the first hours of light to later become clear.

Coquimbo region

In the Coquimbo region, the protagonist of the 2019 eclipse, this year the sun will be covered by 66% and the skies will go from partly cloudy to clear after noon.

Valparaíso region

In the Valparaíso region its residents will be able to marvel at 78% of the sun covered by the moon and completely clear skies are expected throughout the day, even on the coast.

Metropolitan region

As in Valparaíso, in the Metropolitan region the astronomical phenomenon can be observed in 78% thanks to the completely clear skies that are forecast for Monday, together with temperatures that could exceed 31ºC.

O’Higgins Region

In the region of the Liberator Bernardo O’Higgins the eclipse will reach 81% according to the experts, while Meteorology foresees absolutely clear skies for that territory.

Maule region

87% of the eclipse can be observed in the Maule region, accompanied by totally clear skies and temperatures of up to 29ºC.

Bio bio region

For the Bío Bío region, specialists have anticipated that the eclipse can be seen by 94% thanks to its proximity to the “umbra zone”. In fact, on Isla Mocha the phenomenon will reach 100%.

However, the Meteorological Directorate announces that the skies for that day in the Bío Bío will be partially cloudy in the coastal and inland areas.

River region

In most of the Los Ríos region the eclipse will be 100%, however the overcast sky and the rain will be the “stone guest” as in La Araucanía, as forecast.

Los Lagos Region

The Los Lagos region may witness a 93% eclipse if the weather permits it, as overcast skies and rainfall are also forecast for the entire day.

Aysén region

Already almost in the extreme south of our country, the phenomenon can be observed in 79%, although rains are also forecast for most of the day, and then keep the skies covered.

Magallanes Region

In the Magallanes region, the eclipse will only be seen in 54% and cloudy skies and the fall of water-snow are forecast, in addition to winds that would reach 60 km / h.

A little light of hope

With less than 3 days left, the forecast seems “lapidary”, however there is little hope that the instability of the climate in the south will allow us to see the astronomical event.

This is how the meteorologist points out, Gianfranco Marcone, who in dialogue with BioBioChile pointed out that “the south has that particularity of its great instability that the sun passes quickly to the clouds and quickly to the precipitations”.

“That same instability could perhaps, it is only a perhaps because what is going to dominate are the clouds and some rainfall, allowing the possibility of seeing some sun glades in between, or rather a few breaks in the cloudiness,” said the expert.
