On Monday morning, a structural fire was recorded at the intersection of Calle Juan de Dios Peni and Andrés Bello, in the heart of La Serena, an emergency that would have started around 06:00.
According to preliminary information, the incident affected three homes in the sector, including a private house, a Rent A Car and the New Paradise pub.
Fire personnel work in the vicinity and roof of the buildings to prevent the spread of fire to a fourth structure.
In conversation with the press, Commander Ricardo Bruna explained that the fire was of great proportions due to the fact that “the historic center of the city is built without a firewall. Although there were some, they did not fulfill their functionality.”
“At this moment we already have it under control, we are only working so that in the future it does not spread,” he added at 07:44 this morning.
It should be noted that traffic is suspended on Peni street, between Pedro Pablo Muñoz and Los Carrera due to the work of La Serena volunteers.

Meanwhile, Bruna confirmed that on Sunday night three outbreaks of fire were reported almost simultaneously in the regional capital, specifically in Gabriel González Videla street with República.
The flames would have affected a mobile home and a cardboard warehouse at the Unimarc supermarket. In this regard, he commented that “we cannot yet speak of intent until the corresponding investigations are carried out.”
