Three shootings occurred yesterday in the Metropolitan region, which ended with a balance of three deceased people and several injured, all in the middle of Christmas Eve.

The first of the events occurred after 17:00 on Tuesday in the Maipú square, where a woman was killed and four other people were seriously injured.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the attack was due to a possible reckoning, where one of the injured would be the “target” of those who fired.

At the time of the events, a lot of street trade in the northeast side of Avenida 5 de Abril with Pajaritos. It was this holiday shopping scene that changed in minutes.

From one moment to another, a white car arrived with two people inside, where one of them, armed with a weapon, got out of the vehicle and fired at least 10 shots directed towards a group of people.

Two dead in Cerrillos

Hours later, in Cerrillos, two people died after trying to commit a robbery in the Cerrillos commune.

After 9:00 p.m. yesterday, a group of unknown individuals were carrying out the theft of a car by the method of lock up to a driver at the intersection of Pedro Aguirre Cerda avenues with Departamental.

In those moments, PDI officials who were traveling from the commune of Maipú to Ñuñoa realized what had happened. Therefore, they tried to control the car of the assailants, which also did not have their license plates.

The individuals, upon noticing the police presence, extracted at least 3 firearms and began an exchange of shots.

As a result of this, two assailants died at the scene, two others were arrested and the fifth had to be transferred to a care facility.

Personnel from the PDI Homicide Brigade carried out the corresponding investigations at the scene of the event to identify the deceased assailants and determine if they are part of a gang specialized in car theft.

Four injured in Lo Espejo
