The information is from Jorge Monares
During the afternoon of this Saturday, Onemi requested the evacuation of the Esmeralda village, in the Purén commune, due to a forest fire that has affected the area since Friday.
At around 5:00 p.m. the situation of the forest fire had become critical, and the fire was threatening the houses of the neighboring towns in the Purén commune, which has been on red alert since yesterday.
According to the information provided by the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF), the forest fire called “Pangueco 4” has consumed more than 220 hectares of grasslands and shrubs, rapidly advancing towards the inhabited sectors.
“Due to the current conditions of the Pangueco 4 forest fire in the Purén commune, Onemi has requested the preventive evacuation of the Villa Esmeralda sector towards the central sector of the city of Purén. This according to technical indications received in the field from Conaf. The messaging system was activated through cell phones to be able to help in this preventive evacuation ”, indicated Janet Medrano, Regional Director of Onemi Araucanía.
Let us remember that with the declaration of the Red Alert, all the necessary and available resources were mobilized, in additional support to what has already been deployed by Firefighters and the National Civil Protection System.
