Several shots were registered on Monday night in the center of Vienna (Austria), reported the police, which refers to “wounded”, and local media indicated that what happened was near a major synagogue.
One of the aggressors “Would have died, another fled”, the Interior Ministry said, quoted by the Austrian press agency APA.
According to the same source, a policeman was seriously injured.
The shots recorded on Monday would be “a terrorist attack” and continue, said Austrian Interior Minister Karl Nehammer.
“It seems that it is a terrorist attack” with several wounded and several attackers, Nehammer added to the public radio ORF, asking the inhabitants to be careful and stay at home.
A witness, questioned by a television station, said he saw “Running a person with an automatic weapon, who was shooting” intensely.
The police arrived at the scene and responded. Another witness speaks of “at least 50 shots.”
“At this point it is not possible to say if the synagogue was the target,” he said on Twitter, Oskar German, President of the Israeli Community of Vienna (IKG).
Through that same platform, the local police confirmed several wounded as a result of the shots, while asking the population not to go out on public roads to avoid putting themselves at risk.
Meanwhile, an auditor from Radio Bío Bío (César) who works a block from where the events occurred, said in dialogue with Radio that helicopters fly in the area, while no one can go out on the street due to police orders.
Videos of the alleged shooters have been disseminated through social networks, according to an Argentine journalist present in the area.
