A day like today 14 years ago, one of the saddest and most painful days in the history of Colo Colo was experienced. On December 13, 2006, the Albos lost 2-1 to Pachuca in the final of the Copa Sudamericana, the last great opportunity for the club to add a new international title.
In those years, the team led by Claudio Borghi dominated Chilean football and that good level transferred it to the international arena. Matías Fernández, Humberto Suazo, Arturo Vidal or Alexis Sánchez, were just some of the cracks that began to be noticed in South America.
After a spectacular campaign and exhibiting a great footballing level, the Albos settled in the final and had a tremendous possibility of consecrating themselves before more than 70 thousand fans that packed the National Stadium.
The Tuzo box remembered this day and for this, revealed unpublished images of that match and only threw flowers at the spectacular reception of the Cacique’s fans.
“It was the best start in this type of tournaments in South American football”, highlighted the Mexican journalists.
