The Minister of the Interior, Víctor Pérez, expressed the Government’s support for the High Command of the Carabineros de Chile, after it was known that the Comptroller’s Office has filed charges against some generals for possible responsibilities in events that occurred in the context of the so-called “social outbreak” of October 2019.

“We want to publicly express with all clarity that we support the Carabineros because this High Command is the one who has had to direct the Carabineros in a super complex moment and also in a process that has been evident of the need to modernize the institution, its logistical capacity, that it was not in good condition ”, assured Víctor Pérez.

He also affirmed that the institution must modernize “taking measures, perfecting the protocols, perfecting all its reaction so that its task is more and more effective.”

Specifically, as revealed in the report published by the Research Unit of Radio Bío Bío, Comptroller’s Office charges 7 generals for their possible administrative responsibilities for the procedures that occurred from October 18 onwards in the streets of Chile.
