The solidarity television campaign Let’s go Chileans ended the early morning of this Sunday gathering 16,427,363,537 millions of pesos.
Although from the beginning it was indicated that there was no goal considering the social situation in the country, the animator Cecilia Bolocco hinted that there were concrete expectations.
“We are so far from the goal. I’m really sorry because we expected to get 30 billion pesos, we thought ‘well, if it’s not 30 thousand, okay, 20 thousand’ and we are not even in half of that figure and there are less than 2 hours of program left “said the cheerleader around midnight.
Less than 40 minutes after the end of the program, the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC), a group that brings together Chilean businessmen, announced that it would donate 4,500 million pesos extra to the 2,500 that it had delivered the previous day, adding a total contribution of 7,000 million.
Thanks to that donation, at that time the calculation went from 11 billion and a fraction to more than 15 billion.
However, with the amount collected plus a donation in Entel technology, it will be possible to benefit 80 thousand older people, exceeding the expectation of benefiting 50 thousand.
Let us remember that the campaign sought to gather funds that will be delivered to the Fundación Conecta Mayor, of the Pontificia Universidad de Chile, on whose official website they state that they seek to “deliver technology to facilitate the encounter and visibility of the most vulnerable older people in our country ”.
But what help will it deliver concretely? Vulnerable older people benefited from the campaign will receive a kit of basic supplies and food, which will be supervised by the Geriatric and Gerontological Society of Chile, and the Nutrition area of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
In addition, they will be given a device named CM-VIRTUAL (Virtual Senior Connect), which is a cell phone “with a connection plan and a friendly interface specially designed for the elderly.”
