Valparaíso court accepts 32 requests for parole and 6 were pending

The Parole Commission of the Valparaíso Appeals Court accepted 32 of the 412 requests of inmates from the different penal units who applied for this benefit so far in the second half of 2020.
Commissioners met from October 5 to 9 via videoconference to review the background of each applicant, finally deciding to accept the request of these 32 inmates, confirmed the minister (s) Erik Espinoza, the president of the instance.
Six other cases were under evaluation of the commission because additional information and details were requested from the Gendarmerie regarding whether the applicants met the time to apply for the benefit.
The Valparaíso Parole Commission is governed by Law 21,124 and its article 2 It establishes criteria such as having served the minimum sentence time required by law, imposed by a final sentence.
In addition to this, it stipulates that observed faultless conduct while serving the sentence and have a psychosocial application report.
