Universidad de Chile wants to hire a reinforcement striker after the sale of Luis Rojas to Italy

University of Chile had closed the door to the possibility of incorporating reinforcements in the middle of the championship, but things changed thanks to Luis Rojas.

The youth was sold to Crotone of Italy for an amount close to 2 million euros and gave him the option of adding a level transfer.

For this reason, the idea is to make a “stellar” addition for the first team. The football commission that make up Sergio Vargas and Rodrigo Goldberg is already in the race.

The challenge is not easy, because the next “market window” in Chile does not coincide with those of other countries, due to the difference in post-pandemic calendars.

This adds to the impossibility of incorporating a foreign player, since the quota is occupied by Joaquín Larrivey, Walter Montillo, Luis del Pino, Matías Rodríguez and Jonathan Zacaría.

But the position is already defined. The U wants to increase their scoring power with a striker, who can take over the ownership in Hernán Caputto’s team.

Attack is one of U’s concerns. Joaquín Larrivey has six goals in the National Championship, but Ángelo Henríquez and Nicolás Guerra are far behind, with one.

Due to costs and performance, the blue cast parted ways with Leandro Benegas, Marcos Riquelme and Sebastián Ubilla in the summer, and only brought Larrivey in exchange.

The pass book will reopen in October, at the end of the first 17 First Division dates. We will have to wait, but now with the certainty that the U is back on the market.
