The new coronavirus has left nearly 50,000 deaths in United States, after an additional 3,176 deaths were recorded in one of the deadliest days since the outbreak of the epidemic, according to the Johns Hopkins University count.
The deaths, recorded in the 24 hours until 20:30 local time on Thursday, raise the balance in the United States to 49,759, according to that university.
In that same period, there were 26,971 new cases of coronavirus registered in the country, carrying the total 866,646 patients identified since the beginning of the epidemic.
Due to the lack of screening tests, the number of actual cases is probably well above that number.
At the end of last week, the United States recorded two high daily casualty balances (more than 3,800 and 4,500 dead), but those data were due in part to the sum of deaths “probably linked” to Covid-19, that have never been taken into account before.
In addition to those two balances, the 3,716 death toll on Thursday night is the highest recorded in a country in a day since the start of the pandemic, which has left nearly 190,000 dead worldwide.
Despite these alarming data, several states in the country, including Texas, Vermont and Georgia, they decided to open the way to their lack of confidence by authorizing the reopening of some shops.
