Unilever announced this Thursday that as of October 3 will stop packaging tea and making cleaning products at its facilities in Chile.

The multinational explained that this determination was rooted in the transformations that the industry has faced “and the transformation of Unilever’s production matrix at a global level, which have accelerated in Chile the need to reconfigure the operation that was already in place. facing serious competitiveness problems ”.

Unilever also indicated that it was necessary to make synergies with other operations in Latin America to make its operation in Chile sustainable in the medium and long term.

“The company will continue to produce food at the factory located on Calle Panamericana, in the commune of Conchalí,” he added.

Unilever Chile has been present in the country for more than 90 years through emblematic brands such as Rexona, Sedal, Dove, Pepsodent, Hellmann´s, Maizena, Lipton, OMO, Quix and Cif, among other.

In October of last year, the Chilean company ICB, after an agreement with Unilever, achieved the acquisition of the Tea Club brand through a sale that also included the Emblem brand.

At that time, the multinational had detailed that in the tea business it would focus only on Lipton.
