Undersecretary Leturia does not rule out that sanitary cords will be raised again

The Undersecretary of Public Works Christopher Leturia discarded the statements of the Undersecretary of Public Health Paula Daza regarding the temporary lifting of sanitary cords and stated that “it is not the first time that it is taken, it is probably not the last time ”.

After the events that marked the night of last Thursday, when the Intendancy ordered the temporary lifting of the sanitary cordon installed on Route 5 South in the Paine Highway Tenure, Undersecretary Daza assured that “This will not happen again.”

Even so, Undersecretary Leturia indicated that Carabineros “He has all the powers to be able to apply the law according to his criteria of what is happening at the moment.”

Historical number of infections

This Friday, Chile registered a new record in new infections during the last 24 hours.

The Minister of Health Enrique Paris reported 8,112 new cases of COVID-19. Of these, 5,348 correspond to symptomatic people and 2,184 do not present symptoms. In addition, 580 Positive PCR tests were recorded that were not reported.

Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the Department of Health Statistics and Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours there were 93 deaths due to causes associated with COVID-19. The total number of deaths amounted to 23,421 in the country.
