The Local Prosecutor’s Office of La Unión formalized an investigation against two defendants who this Friday shot at Carabineros and threw miguelitos on the road to avoid being pursued, after police personnel tried to carry out a vehicle control at the height of the roundabout in the Rapaco sector of the commune of La Unión.

The defendants were traveling at that time without a pass that would enable them to transit during the quarantine and aboard two vehicles, one of which was commissioned for robbery in the city of Osorno.

The formalization was carried out by the subrogated prosecutor of La Unión, Paola Riquelme, who informed the defendants Héctor Contreras and Claudio Carrasco that they are being investigated for the crimes of attack against the authority, reception of a motorized vehicle and violation of article 318 of the Code Criminal, for putting public health at risk by breaking the rules of the authority in times of catastrophe or pandemic.

Contreras, who also had an arrest warrant pending for an intimidation robbery in the Mariquina commune, was also formalized as the perpetrator of the crime of carrying and illegal possession of ammunition, since he was carrying a box with 28 22-caliber cartridges and two 38-caliber cartridges. not hit.

The persecutor requested preventive detention for both defendants, which was granted by the Court, and indicated that both subjects have pending cases and previous convictions for similar crimes.

The Attorney General’s Office of La Unión will have an initial period of 80 days to carry out the investigation of these events.
