The platform Twitter flagged with warning Friday a post by a prominent Democratic activist referring to Joe Biden as president-elect, with the counting of votes in process in the United States amid protests by Republicans on the internet and the streets.
“Official sources may not yet have determined the winner when these comments were tweeted,” reads a message posted by Twitter below a post by the Democratic Coalition co-founder and podcast host. Scott dworkin.
The leader’s tweets referred to the former vice president with the title of winner and his running mate Kamala Harris as “Vice president-elect”, so they were tagged with messages saying that the counts were not yet final.
The social network has intervened since Tuesday night, marking almost one in two tweets of the Republican president Donald trump, who has reiterated, without presenting evidence, that he had achieved victory and that there is a massive fraud in favor of the Democrats.
“Our teams continue to crack down on tweets that declare victory prematurely or contain misleading information about the elections in general,” a Twitter spokesperson said Friday.
Twitter, however, did not refer to many other similar Scott Dworkin posts made on Friday as “ALERT: Joe Biden has been elected the 46th president of the United States”.
Different digital platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google have fought to stop the wave of false rumors, misinformation and calls for violent protest since the vote count began after the vote on Tuesday.
