More than three years after the events occurred, this Friday, in the Third Court of Guarantee of Santiago, culminated the formalization hearing against 16 defendants for the so-called new “Heist of the century”, in which a group of assailants stole 15,800 million pesos from the securities transport company Esertval Ltda., located in the municipality of Independencia, on September 28, 2017.
Thirteen of the defendants – including two security guards – were arrested on monday passed by Carabineros and the North Central Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office while the other three were already in jail for different crimes.
The court rejected applying the precautionary preventive detention for 12 of the 13 detainees on Monday, leaving them with night arrest and national roots.

The other three were kept in preventive detention, but serving sentences for other crimes.
After hearing the court’s decision, Marcelo cabrera, Deputy Prosecutor of the North Central Prosecutor’s Office, said he was “Surprised”.
