The president of the United States said on Saturday that he feels “much better” after having contracted COVID-19 and promised that “soon” he will return to his activities.
“I came here and I wasn’t feeling very well,” said Trump, 74, who is being treated at Walter Reed Military Hospital.
“I feel so much better now. We are working hard so that he can return, “he said in a video posted on his Twitter account, apparently recorded in that hospital.
“I think I’ll be back soon and I want to finish the (electoral) campaign the way we started it,” he added.

Hours earlier, a source who was aware of his state of health gave the press, on condition of anonymity, a more alarmist description of the situation: “The president’s vital signs in the last 24 hours have been very worrying, and next 48 hours will be critical. We have not yet taken a clear path to recovery. ”
The video is not dated and is apparently filmed in the hospital, but it is unknown if it was made before or after these details communicated, according to several US media, by the White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows.
This message was in contrast to that of the White House physician, Sean Conley, whose tone was much more optimistic.
“This morning the president is very well,” Conley had assured.
Trump suffered from fever, cough, mild congestion and fatigue, but symptoms “are reducing and improving,” he said, adding that the president had not had a fever in the last 24 hours and that his oxygen saturation level was normal. 96%.
“I had no choice but to expose myself” to covid-19, Trump said in his video.
“I just didn’t want to stay in the White House. (…) I couldn’t stay locked in the upstairs room totally safe. As a leader, you have to face problems. There has been no great leader who did not do that, “he added.
“I’m starting to be fine,” he said also, adding that the next few days will be the “real test” of his recovery.
