He President Donald Trump asked the chain Fox News fired his reporter assigned to national security issues, after she confirmed claims that the mogul had despised United States military veterans, a scandal that has plagued him for two days.
Trump posted an angry message on Twitter Friday night saying that “Jennifer Griffin I should be fired for this kind of report. She never even called us to ask for a comment. ”
Griffin reported that two former government officials confirmed to him that the president “did not want to hold the ceremony to honor the American war dead” at the Aisne-Marne cemetery on the outskirts of Paris, claiming that the weather was not a factor in not attending.
The Republican leader, who will seek reelection in November, has come under fire since the The Atlantic magazine reported that he called US soldiers killed in World War I “losers” and “fools” during a visit to France in 2018, when he avoided going to a cemetery where fighters from his country are buried.

The controversy
A former official quoted by the reporter told her that Trump had used the word “fools” to denigrate the fallen military, but in a different context related to the Vietnam War.

But Trump fought back after The Atlantic published the story, tweeting and retweeting notes condemning it as “fake news.”
Fox News, which routinely displays sympathetic stances toward Trump, has come under fire for seemingly neglecting coverage of Griffin in its approach to the story.
Colleagues supported Griffin
Several of Griffin’s colleagues at Fox have publicly defended her on Twitter, along with the Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger, that he said she was a “fair and fearless” reporter.
“I can tell you that my sources are beyond reproach. They are not anonymous to me, and I think the president knows them, ”Jennifer Griffin said Saturday.
Just before The Atlantic published its story, a poll conducted by the Military Times and the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University found that only 37.4% of active duty personnel support a candidate for reelection of Trump, while 43.1 percent back his rival, Democrat Joe Biden.
