A bus driver of the public transport system of the Transantiago Metropolitan Region was stabbed by unknown persons while doing his work this Wednesday afternoon.
The man was driving a trunk bus on route 301, Juan Antonio Ríos-Angelmó, which connects the communes of Independencia and San Bernardo.
During the trip, he was reportedly accosted by subjects who attacked him and ended up losing control of the machine to crash into a public lighting pole on Avenida Padre Hurtado with Las Piñas.
The situation generated cuts in the supply of electricity, telephone and Internet services to residents of the area that borders the municipality of San Bernardo.
VTR reported that its services in some areas of that last commune were affected and a technical team from the company arrived at the site to work on the replacement.
Captain Sebastián Fuentes, Ronda Prefectura Santiago Sur official, explained that the impact of the machine with the pole occurred “after unfortunately the driver of this microbus was attacked by criminals who had carried out a robbery.”
“It was reported to the Prosecutor’s Office, initiating proceedings in order to find the author or authors of the theft,” he said.
