Where will the eclipse be seen?
Either partially or totally, the event can be observed from French Polynesia, in the westernmost area of Antarctica, in the territory of continental and insular Chile, in Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, in parts of Peru, Ecuador and Brazil, on some islands in the Atlantic and in the southwestern region of Africa.
However, the eclipse in its entirety can only be seen in some southern Chile and Argentina. In these places, the Moon will completely cover the Sun and the darkness projected on the Earth will be 100%.
The best places to see it in Chile
The cone of darkness, known as the umbra, will be a strip of around 110 kilometers in length that, in the case of Chile, will allow the eclipse to be total in various locations in the region. Araucania region, such as Puerto Saavedra, Teodoro Schmidt, Carahue, Nueva Imperial, Freire, Pitrufquén, Gorbea, Loncoche, Pucón, Lican Ray and Villarrica.
You can also see the total eclipse in the Mocha Island, administratively in the Biobío region, and in some places north of the River region.
Temuco, for its part, will have the particularity that the phenomenon can be appreciated both totally and partially, depending on the sector of the city in which you are.
The best places in Argentina
Argentina will be the other country that will have the privilege that some areas of its territory can observe the eclipse in 100%, specifically in the Neuquén and Río Negro provinces.
The locations that will be able to see the event in a total way in Argentina are Aluminé, Junín de Los Andes, Las Coloradas, Piedra del Águila, El Cuy, Sierra Colorada, Valcheta, San Antonio, Las Grutas and El Cóndor, among others.
