The 10th Santiago Guarantee Court revoked the total house arrest in which there were three policemen formalized for the crime of torture and sexual abuse against the Medicine student of the Catholic University, Josué Maureira, in the midst of the social outbreak.
The defense of the uniformed officers argued about the disagreements of the expert opinions, which was considered by the court when reducing the intensity of the precautionary measure.
Maureira was detained during the early hours of Monday, October 21, on a curfew, and his case is being investigated by the South Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office. The National Institute of Human Rights (NHRI) filed a complaint for the “crime of torture with aggravated sexual abuse”.
In the judicial action, the NHRI states: “They kept him in handcuffs and so he was beaten without any provocation and insulted for being a homosexual, an issue that his offenders deduced because he was walking with his nails painted red.”
